New Life International is bringing hope and positive change to Malawi through its vibrant partnership with AKONDA Ministries, a local holistic ministry providing health, education, livelihood through the local Church. For several years, we’ve been working hand-in-hand with AKONDA to provide essential water purification systems, ensuring that the people of Malawi have access to safe water—a resource that is still out of reach for many in this region. Together, we’re making a tangible difference in the health and hygiene of local communities where access to reliable healthcare and sanitation remains a significant challenge.
One of the most exciting aspects of our work in Malawi is the installation of water purification systems and a hypochlorous production unit at the AKONDA health clinic. This clinic is a beacon of hope, providing critical medical care to many in the area, and our contribution helps make sure the water used in treatments is safe and clean. The hypochlorous (HOCL) solution produced will provide life-saving acute wound care for a range of patients, including those afflicted by diabetes and leprosy as well as other wound causes. The HOCL will also be used as a sanitizer for the staff and equipment at the clinic and will be available for other skin care applications for human and animal health care needs in the local and broader communities.
We’ve also built a new platform to support a 5,000-liter water storage tank, which will greatly enhance the clinic’s ability to meet the growing needs of the community. With the addition of both the water purification and hypochlorous systems, we’re not only fighting infections but also supporting wound care and overall hygiene—bringing long-term health benefits to those in need.
The NLI team, including engineers Nate and Austin, along with Director of Field Operations Steven, were in Malawi in February – mid-March to facilitate the installation of this life-changing equipment, while providing usage and maintenance training to the AKONDA health team. Their work will help ensure the clinic is fully equipped to provide the best care possible. The anticipation of seeing these systems in action fills our hearts with joy, knowing they will bring relief to so many families in the region. This is just the beginning of our ongoing efforts to improve living conditions in Malawi, and we’re excited to see the lasting impact we will make together.

These partnerships go beyond just providing physical resources; they also foster long-term sustainability.
